At 77, Dolly Parton is a household name in both country music and the broader celebrity world.

A Tennessee native, she has become a legend, delighting fans with her performances throughout her life.

In a recent interview with Pollystar, Dolly announced she would no longer be touring. She said:

“I’ll do special shows here and there, now and then. Maybe do a long weekend of shows, or just a few shows at a festival. But I have no intention of going on a full-blown tour anymore.”

Having risen from poverty in the Appalachian Mountains to the heights of global entertainment, Dolly will certainly be missed on stage.

Her popularity is undeniable, yet she continues to face criticism for her appearance.

Throughout her career, critics have commented on her look. Dolly has recalled people advising her to tone down her style if she wanted a serious career.

“The main advice that people wanted to give me was to change my look – to go simpler with my hair and the way that I dress,” she explained. “Not to look so cheap, nobody was ever going to take me seriously, they would say.”

The mean comments have persisted over the years. Some individuals still make unfair remarks about her.

One Twitter user wrote: “Dolly Parton is one ugly lady,” while another said: “Dolly Parton is so ugly, but she got nice breasts.”

Despite the online unkindness and vitriol, Dolly remains positive and defiant. She is comfortable with her body and looks, refusing to change for anyone.

“It costs a lot of money to look this cheap,” she once famously said.

Her husband has always supported her, loving her no matter what.

“He doesn’t care if I’m fat,” Dolly said. “He was never turned off. He’s fool enough to think I’m the sexiest, prettiest woman in the world.”

Dolly remains eager for success and new challenges. According to Rolling Stone, she embraced her 2022 entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame by planning an album that some might consider outside her usual genre.

Fans were thrilled when Dolly was considered for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame after her stellar career.

However, Dolly was initially hesitant about the honor. She felt that, given her primarily country music career, others might be more fitting for the Hall of Fame.

Ultimately, the voters decided she belonged, and in November, she was inducted. She immediately began working to ensure her selection was justified.

No matter what anyone says, I believe Dolly Parton is incredibly talented!
