Mel Gibson Sparks Controversy with ‘Crazy’ Conspiracy Theory About LA Wildfires After Losing His Home

Actor Mel Gibson recently shared his controversial theory about the devastating LA wildfires, leaving many people shocked and divided.

The “Mad Max” star, who lost his £12 million Malibu home in the fires, voiced his thoughts in an interview that quickly sparked backlash.

“I can create all sorts of terrible theories in my head—conspiracy theories and everything else—but it all seemed a bit too convenient: no water, perfect wind conditions, and people seemingly ready and equipped to start fires,” Gibson said. He suggested that the destruction could have been “commissioned” to clear properties from valuable land.

After reports emerged that a suspect had been arrested for starting one of the fires, Gibson questioned whether the individual had acted alone or if they had been “commissioned” to carry out the act.

During an interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, Gibson expanded on his thoughts.

“They seem pretty well-equipped, some of these individuals they’re catching,” he noted. “I know they’ve been messing with the water supply, letting reserves go for various reasons. California has a lot of issues that are baffling when it comes to how things are managed.”

Gibson went further, questioning if the wildfires were part of a deliberate agenda.

“In situations like this, you begin to wonder—was it on purpose? It sounds insane, but one has to ponder if there’s a motive behind it. What could they want? An empty state? I don’t know,” he speculated. “But these people they’re catching seem very well-prepared.”

His remarks immediately ignited a heated debate online.

“Conspiracy theories seem to be his last claim to fame,” one Twitter user remarked. Another wrote, “While Californians are battling fires, these two are busy fueling conspiracy fires. Shameful.”

Ingraham chimed in, mentioning ongoing discussions about plans for high-density housing in areas affected by the fires, which seemed to align with Gibson’s claims. The actor compared the situation to “old cattle barons clearing people off the land.”

The actor’s comments have drawn sharp criticism, with some accusing him of spreading baseless theories during a time of crisis. Others, however, argue that his questions reflect valid concerns about how such disasters are handled and whether hidden agendas might be at play.
