It marks another clash between the democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani and President Donald Trump.

People have labeled Donald Trump “insane” after he delivered a fierce attack on the newly elected New York City mayor, Zohran Mamdani.

Yesterday (November 5), officials announced that Mamdani, age 34, will serve as the next mayor of the Big Apple.

His election breaks ground on multiple fronts, positioning Mamdani as the first Millennial to hold the office, the most liberal mayor the city has seen in generations, the first Muslim mayor, the first of South Asian descent, and the first born in Africa.

Numerous New Yorkers celebrate the outcome, noting that Mamdani secured more than 50 percent of the vote, defeating former governor Andrew Cuomo and Republican Curtis Sliwa.

One individual has voiced strong opinions: U.S. President Donald Trump, who has clashed with Mamdani on several occasions.

On Monday (November 3), Trump drew a strange comparison to the politician during an interview on CBS’s 60 Minutes.

When the interviewer referred to Mamdani as a democratic socialist, Trump cut in: “Communist. Not socialist, communist. He’s far worse than a socialist.”

The journalist then asked: “Some people have compared him to a left-wing version of you: charismatic, breaking the old rules. What do you think about that?”

Trump’s reply lacked praise.

The U.S. president responded: “Well, I think I’m a much better-looking person than him. Right?”

The internet reacted swiftly to the remark, with one user posting on Twitter: “Trump claimed he’s better looking than Mamdani. Yes he’s insane.”

A second commenter wrote: “Trump said he’s ‘better looking than Zohran Mamdani.’ You can’t make this up. The man’s turning insecurity into performance art at this point.”

The Republican leader, 79, previously threatened to arrest Mamdani and suggested he might withhold city funding if Mamdani won the election.

Trump earlier vented on Truth Social: “He is going to have problems with Washington like no Mayor in the history of our once great City. Remember, he needs the money from me, as President, in order to fulfil all of his FAKE Communist promises. “He won’t be getting any of it, so what’s the point of voting for him? This ideology has failed, always, for thousands of years. It will fail again, and that’s guaranteed!”

In his victory speech, Mamdani fired back: “If anyone can show a nation betrayed by Donald Trump how to defeat him, it is the city that gave rise to him.”

He continued: “This is not only how we stop Trump. It’s how we stop the next one. So Donald Trump, since I know you’re watching, I have four words for you: ‘Turn the volume up’.”
