As of early Friday, Trump’s speech had amassed over 130 million views, but it also drew significant criticism. Many online users accused the White House of using an AI-generated version of the president, with some claiming to have evidence supporting their allegations.
One X user posted, “Can prominent accounts start addressing the possibility that Trump’s Oval Office speech was AI-generated? This is a serious matter.”
Another user remarked, “Yesterday was bizarre. Trump was among the first to announce Charlie Kirk’s death, followed by MAGA influencers pushing civil war narratives. Then, Trump delivered an address that appears partially AI-generated. Strange events are unfolding.”
Visual Clues Fuel Speculation
A third user noted, “It strongly resembles an AI avatar of Trump delivering an official presidential message. His body and hands barely move throughout the video.”
Within 20 seconds of the speech, some observers pointed out irregularities, such as Trump’s hand appearing to “jump” and his ring finger momentarily blending into his hand, seemingly disappearing.
A fourth user on X expressed disbelief, writing, “I feel like I’m losing my mind over this.”
Reddit Discussions Amplify the Debate
On Reddit, users also debated whether Trump’s address was AI-generated. One commenter wrote, “Focus on his hands throughout the video. The evidence is clear—no need to search for subtle clues.” Another added, “His ring finger literally vanishes at one point. No exaggeration needed.”
A third Reddit user, cited by Unilad, noted, “Trump has been posting other AI-generated videos recently, so this wouldn’t be surprising.”
However, not everyone was convinced the speech was AI-generated. One Reddit user offered an alternative explanation: “It’s likely a common editing technique called a ‘Morph Edit,’ used when a single take isn’t possible. The editor combines the end of one take with the start of another, blending them seamlessly. This tool predates AI and has been used for years.”
Another user agreed, stating, “I think they’re masking a cut. It’s not ideal that the sitting president might struggle to deliver a short speech without a break, but I don’t believe it’s entirely AI.”
