Tracy Matthews, a 44-year-old grandmother from Lorain, Ohio, carried 605 pounds on her frame for many years. Today she stands transformed – lighter, stronger, and fully present for the people she loves most.
From early childhood, Tracy found comfort in food. At eleven years old she already weighed 170 pounds, and by high school graduation the scale showed 270 pounds. Each pregnancy added close to 100 pounds, pushing her body higher and higher until she reached 605 pounds.

Home carried constant tension. Frequent arguments between her parents left young Tracy searching for peace, and food became her refuge – the one place that always felt safe.
Severe lymphedema soon followed. Swelling, pain, and layers of cellulite turned every movement into a struggle, yet Tracy never lost sight of her deepest wish: to walk freely again and be close to her grandchildren.

Her turning point arrived with the show My 600-lb Life. Under close medical care, Tracy underwent life-changing surgeries that removed excess skin and weight from her legs. Through those procedures alone she released 167 pounds (76 kg), and the progress continued steadily afterward.
Step by step, strength returned. The swelling eased, the sharp pain faded, and Tracy discovered she could move through her days without constant limitation.

Now she wakes up grateful for ordinary moments most people take for granted – playing with her grandchildren, sharing meals with her husband, and feeling the simple joy of an active life. Tracy Matthews reclaimed her health, her mobility, and her family time, one determined day at a time.
