Keanu Reeves Opens Up About Recent Serious Injury While Filming New Movie

Keanu Reeves has recently been busy filming his latest project, Good Fortune. The actor appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert earlier this week and recounted a story that raised some concern.

The 59-year-old actor shared that he broke his kneecap while filming. Known for his action-packed roles in movies like The Matrix and the John Wick series, Reeves revealed he was brought down by something quite mundane.

Colbert asked Reeves, “What happened? Who got to you?”

In a playful tough guy voice, the actor replied, “No one got to me. Accident got to me.”

“Were you jumping from building to building? Were you doing a cartwheel past razor blades? What were you doing?” Stephen further probed.

“No, Stephen, I was walking into the dressing room. I’ll tell it quick,” Keanu explained.

Keanu shared that it happened while filming a scene for the upcoming comedy Good Fortune with Aziz Ansari and Seth Rogen. The three were in a cold plunge, and Keanu was enjoying it. After they finished, he started doing the “cold shuffle” in a room with protective carpets. Unfortunately, his foot got caught in a pocket as he was doing so.

Standing up to demonstrate, Keanu showed how his knee gave way. “And I spiked. Like, spiked,” he said, mimicking what had happened. “Just drove it into the ground.”

“My patella, kneecap, cracked like a potato chip. But I didn’t know that. But then my knee started blowing up,” Keanu continued.

“Comedy is hard, man,” Keanu joked.

“This was not an action film with Aziz and Rogen,” Stephen clarified.

“No, it was comedy,” Keanu confirmed.

“Welcome to my life,” Stephen joked.

Keanu had been spotted filming on crutches in January this year with an ice pack on his knee.

Good Fortune not only stars Aziz Ansari but will also be his directorial debut. The movie, written and co-produced by Ansari, also stars Sandra Oh and Keke Palmer.
