Lip Reader Reveals Donald and Melania Trump’s Conversation During Their Inaugural Ball Dance

In addition to a professional lip reader unveiling the words exchanged between Donald and Melania Trump during their dance at an inaugural ball, netizens eagerly shared their opinions on the couple’s appearance and interaction.

On January 20, 2025, during President Donald Trump’s inauguration, he and First Lady Melania Trump shared a special dance at the Liberty Ball. Lip-reading expert Jeremy Freeman offered insights into the brief conversation they had, which took place as Melania showcased a stunning structural gown designed by her trusted stylist.

To the backdrop of a soft, romantic melody played by the orchestra, the President and First Lady took center stage. Their dance captivated the crowd, with Donald gently wrapping an arm around Melania’s waist while she placed her hand on his back, drawing closer for an intimate moment as they exchanged quiet words.

Jeremy Freeman, a certified Expert Witness Forensic Lip Reader from the Deafness Cognition and Language Research Centre at University College London, interpreted the exchange. According to him, Melania remarked, “Today is one we will never forget,” to which Donald replied, “You’re right, I’ll learn, I’ll fight.” The interaction grew even more personal as Melania assured her husband with, “I got you.”

Freeman further noted Donald’s response, which included the words, “We’ll see. Will you control it? Less tricky, less pushing away?” Melania’s reply, “It’s a no,” was met with Donald’s acknowledgment.

For the Liberty Ball, Donald opted for a classic black tuxedo paired with a crisp white shirt and a black bow tie. Meanwhile, Melania stunned in a sophisticated white gown featuring bold black accents and an asymmetrical design that perfectly highlighted her figure. She completed her look with a striking black choker adorned with a diamond brooch, while her hair was styled in soft waves.

Melania’s elegant inaugural gown was designed by Herve Pierre, who worked closely with her to bring her vision to life. Herve shared his gratitude for the opportunity, describing the inspiration behind the gown: “It is a big honor […] It was clear that Mrs. Trump was gravitating toward a combination of black and white — true to her own style and vision.”

Herve also celebrated the milestone on Instagram, posting sketches of the gown that showcased its floor-length, form-fitting silhouette, asymmetrical black accents, and the matching black choker. In his caption, he wrote, “It was such an honor to create the dress for the First Lady Melania Trump tonight.. I can’t thank her enough… it was a wonderful project, a great collaboration… as always !!!! A big thank to @atelieryqs for helping me on that project … your work is 👌🏻impeccable 🙏🏻 [sic].”

The couple’s dance sparked a wave of online reactions, with viewers divided over the moment. Some critics described the dance as awkward, with one noting, “You are lying if you don’t notice that.” Another commented, “Trump and Melania’s Inaugural Ball first dance was something else — a stiff, awkward shuffle that looked more like a hostage situation than a celebration.”

However, positive opinions emerged as well. One spectator complimented the couple, saying, “So sweet,” offering a refreshing perspective amid the criticism.

The Liberty Ball, while garnering significant attention, was just one of three inaugural balls attended by the First Couple. Earlier in the evening, they made their debut at the Commander-in-Chief Ball, where they danced to “The Battle Hymn of the Republic,” performed by the United States Marine Band. The evening ended with the Starlight Ball, completing a night filled with celebration and historic moments.

During the Commander-in-Chief Ball, Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance joined the Trumps on stage for a paired dance, adding to the festive atmosphere. President Trump addressed the attendees with his characteristic enthusiasm, saying, “This is quite a gathering, huh?”

While the Liberty Ball became a focal point for online discussions, the trio of events painted a broader picture of the First Couple’s inaugural night — a blend of formality, public engagement, and memorable moments that will undoubtedly be etched into history.
