The files, included in the latest batch related to the Epstein case, referenced Whoopi Goldberg 21 times, which led to a wave of online speculation and assumptions suggesting she had a personal relationship with him.
Addressing the situation directly, Goldberg used a recent episode of The View to clarify her position and firmly deny any connection beyond what was contained in a single email.
During the broadcast, Goldberg explained that the mention of her name came from travel arrangements involving a charity event in Monaco. She noted that the documents referenced an email stating that she needed transportation after her original plans fell through.
According to Goldberg, the message indicated that a private jet was being sought to fly her to Monaco for a charity event associated with Julian Lennon. She emphasized that the charity was responsible for covering the travel cost and that the organizers were simply reaching out to jet owners for assistance. Goldberg stressed that she never boarded any aircraft linked to Epstein and had no personal interactions with him.
Her co-host Joy Behar commented that many names appear in such records without implying wrongdoing. Goldberg agreed and expressed frustration that some individuals online were attempting to portray her as more involved than a simple mention in correspondence.
She made it clear that she was neither a friend nor an associate of Epstein and spoke about feeling publicly attacked because of unverified assumptions. The longtime entertainer highlighted the importance of basing accusations on supported facts rather than circulating rumors.
The email in question, dated May 8, 2013, showed event organizers attempting to secure a private jet after Goldberg’s original travel arrangements collapsed. The message mentioned that “John Lennon’s charity” would cover the expenses, though Goldberg corrected this misunderstanding by explaining that it referred to Julian Lennon’s foundation. The email was sent to individuals identified as “Larry V” and “JE Jail,” and Epstein reportedly responded with a brief “No thanks.”
Goldberg’s name appears among numerous public figures listed in the documents, including Alec Baldwin, Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Meghan Markle, Diana Ross, Amy Schumer, Bruce Springsteen, Woody Allen, Tucker Carlson, Alyssa Milano, Rosie O’Donnell, Michael Jackson, Bill Cosby, David Copperfield, Kevin Spacey, Cher, George Clooney, Kurt Cobain, Robert De Niro, Bono, Mick Jagger, and Barbra Streisand. Legal analysts continue to emphasize that simply appearing in the documents does not indicate misconduct or involvement with Epstein on a personal level.
