Donald Trump is set to officially assume the presidency following his inauguration next Monday, January 20.
Melania Trump has reportedly been accused by Jill Biden of breaking a significant tradition associated with the role of First Lady.
On January 20, Donald Trump will formally take over the presidency from his Democratic predecessor, Joe Biden, making Melania Trump the new First Lady of the United States.
As she prepares to leave the White House, Jill Biden has reflected on her time as First Lady, sharing her experiences and commenting on her successor reportedly declining a traditional event.
In an exit interview with The Washington Post, Jill revealed that Melania had not attended a tea she had invited her to at the White House — a long-standing custom observed during presidential transitions for incoming and outgoing first ladies.
As a result, Jill Biden handed a note to Donald Trump to pass along to his wife.
“I congratulated her and offered my help,” Jill said of the note. However, she did not hear back from Melania until last week at Jimmy Carter’s state funeral (January 9), when Melania briefly thanked her during an exchange of pleasantries.
Tyla has reached out to the Trump transition team for comment regarding these claims.
Melania Trump has previously made a bold statement about her role as the First Lady ahead of Donald Trump’s return to power.
Speaking to FOX News, she remarked: “Maybe some people see me as just the wife of the President, but I stand on my own two feet, independent. I have my own thoughts, my own ‘yes’ and ‘no.’”
During the same conversation, she reflected on her first experience at the White House, admitting, “The first time was challenging. We didn’t have much information. The information was… withheld from us by the previous administration. But this time, I have everything!”
Despite her confidence in the upcoming term, Melania expressed regret over one aspect of her previous experience, stating that she lacked sufficient support during her tenure as First Lady.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s official inauguration photos, captured by chief photographer Daniel Torok, have sparked widespread discussion across social media.
While many Trump supporters praised the photos, claiming the 78-year-old Republican looked “presidential,” others expressed contrasting opinions.
Among the mixed reactions, some social media users noted that Trump’s eyes appeared to be of different sizes, with a few speculating that the photos might have been altered using artificial intelligence (AI). Others commented that the inauguration image bore an uncanny resemblance to his mug shot.
The mugshot in question dates back to August 2023, when Trump turned himself in at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, Georgia, following his indictment by a grand jury on racketeering charges.
