Over the weekend, online reports sparked widespread speculation about President Donald Trump’s health. In response, the president has publicly addressed these concerns, affirming his vitality.
Since beginning his second term in January, the 79-year-old president’s health has drawn significant attention, often accompanied by his ongoing critique of his predecessor. During last year’s election campaign, Trump emphasized that former President Joe Biden’s “competency and age” were key voter concerns.
Notably, Trump’s nickname for Biden, “Sleepy Joe,” referenced Biden’s age—78 at the start of his term and 82 by its conclusion.
By the end of his current four-year term, Trump will be 156 days older than Biden was at the end of his presidency, marking him as the oldest president sworn into office in U.S. history.
Addressing the viral claims that emerged online, thousands believed the Republican had passed away after he was absent from public view for a few days. However, Trump has now spoken out, proving he remains active and healthy.
Let’s explore the origins of these rumors.
Remarkably, the speculation began when Trump, typically a frequent public figure, was not seen for two days, prompting online theories about his whereabouts.
Although Trump had no scheduled public appearances on Saturday, August 30—the day the rumors surfaced—many quickly assumed the worst rather than considering he might have taken a brief break.
On Truth Social, Trump firmly dispelled the rumors about his passing. Coincidentally, he was photographed that same day on the South Lawn with his granddaughter Kai Trump, preparing to visit the Trump National Golf Course in Sterling, Virginia.
“NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY LIFE. Also, DC IS A CRIME FREE ZONE! President DJT,” he wrote on the platform.
This was in response to a supporter who commented: “Joe Biden would go multiple days without public appearances, and the media would call him ‘sharp’ and ‘top of his game.’ Meanwhile, President Trump works longer public hours than any other president in U.S. history, yet the media panics if he’s out of sight for 24 hours. What a double standard.”
It’s worth clarifying that no evidence supports claims of Biden wearing diapers during his presidency.
Vice President JD Vance’s remarks also contributed to the speculation.
“I’ve gained extensive experience in the past 200 days, but the president is in remarkably good health. His energy is extraordinary,” Vance told USA Today last week.
“While most people working with the president are younger, he’s often the last to go to bed, making late-night calls, and the first to wake up, starting his day with early calls,” Vance added.
The vice president acknowledged that “unexpected events can occur” but expressed strong confidence in Trump’s health and ability to complete his second term.
