Melania Trump Expresses Deep Concern for Barron Trump’s Safety

In January, business magnate Donald Trump is set to return for his second term as President of the United States. During his initial four years in the White House, his youngest son, Barron Trump, resided with him and his mother in the presidential residence. This time, however, the situation will be different, as Barron has enrolled at New York University, where he will pursue studies in business, following in his father’s footsteps.

Whether Barron will venture into politics like his father remains to be seen, but the possibility of his involvement in the political arena would not come as a surprise. The youngest son of the President-Elect was selected by the Republican Party of Florida as one of the state’s at-large delegates to the Republican National Convention, according to NBC News.

“We have a great delegation of grassroots leaders, elected officials, and even Trump family members,” Florida GOP chairman Evan Power stated. “Florida is continuing to build a strong convention team, but more importantly, we are preparing to win Florida decisively.”

Barron is not the first member of the Trump family to be chosen for such a role. His siblings, Donald Jr., Eric, and Tiffany, have previously served as delegates for Florida, where their father has officially resided and voted in recent years.

However, while Donald Trump was supportive of Barron’s potential political engagement, it was Melania who ultimately decided against it. “While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” a spokesperson for Melania Trump said in a statement.

This decision does not necessarily indicate that Melania is entirely opposed to Barron entering the political sphere. It appears she is gradually introducing her son, whom she has shielded from the public eye for years, into a more public role.

Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former aide to Melania, believes that Barron’s inclusion in the family’s Christmas photo last year, where he posed alongside his father and siblings, is evidence of Melania’s strategic planning for his future.

“Melania’s decision to include Barron in this family activity, even if she couldn’t be present herself, may mark a significant turning point, potentially strengthening the bond between Melania and Donald,” Wolkoff told the New York Post.

“Barron’s appearance is truly monumental and demonstrates that Donald and Melania are aligned in their approach. I believe we will be seeing more of him in the future. With Melania, nothing happens by chance.”

Melania has always been highly protective of her son, but in the digital age, she cannot entirely shield him from the world beyond the walls of their Mar-A-Lago estate.

On July 13, Donald Trump was targeted in an assassination attempt during a rally in Butler. He was struck in the ear, while a volunteer fire chief was killed, and two others were injured.

“For 15 seconds, time stood still,” Trump told the crowd. “This vicious monster unleashed evil. The villain did not succeed in his goal.”

The incident not only impacted Trump, who later returned to the same stage for another rally, but also his family. Melania took to X to express that the shooting was a moment when she realized her life and Barron’s were “on the brink of devastating change.”

“When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life and Barron’s life were on the brink of devastating change. I am grateful to the brave Secret Service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband,” Melania wrote, as reported by CNN.

“To the families of the innocent victims who are now suffering from this heinous act, I humbly offer my sincerest sympathy. Your need to summon your inner strength for such a terrible reason saddens me.”

Melania continued: “A monster who viewed my husband as an inhuman political machine attempted to extinguish Donald’s passion—his laughter, ingenuity, love of music, and inspiration. The core aspects of my husband’s life—his human side—were overshadowed by the political machine. Donald, the generous and caring man who has been by my side through the best and worst of times.”

Since leaving the White House, Barron has been under the protection of the Secret Service. Agents have been with him at all times, including during his time at school, and he will continue to receive protection while at New York University.

Anthony Guglielmi, Chief of Communications for the U.S. Secret Service, stated: “The President-elect has been receiving heightened Secret Service protection, and this level of security will be maintained moving forward.”

“While we cannot share specific details to ensure the integrity of our operations, family members and executive staff of the President-elect may also be afforded protection in accordance with federal law.”

Guglielmi added: “Enhanced security measures in Palm Beach County, Florida, and New York City are also being coordinated. The Secret Service is committed to working with local partners in these cities to keep the community informed about any potential impacts to the public.”

Paul Eckloff, a former Secret Service agent who has worked with the families of George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Donald Trump, noted that a president’s child is considered a “soft target” in law enforcement and military terms.

This means “they are perceived to be less protected, which makes them vulnerable but also creates a dangerous environment for those around them.” Eckloff explained that while Barron might appear to be alone in a setting like a student union, he will not be. “You will see [Secret Service agents] dressed as best as possible like students,” he said.

During his father’s presidency, Barron is expected to reside at Trump Tower.
